To: Parents of youth in the 23rd Sarnia (St. Bart's) Scouting Program

I wish to welcome you and your child to another year of Scouting with the 23rd Sarnia Group.  We are very proud of our programs and our leaders, but our volunteers cannot work alone.  They need the continued support of the parents.  The Group Committee is in place to assist the leaders.  We help finance the Sections to provide their programs and for special events such as the Beaver camp, Cub trip, Scout canoe trip and equipment for all sections.  Group Committee coordinates all operations.

This year, the fall registration fee is $ 215.00.  Registration is now only available on line via www.myscouts.ca

It costs a lot to run our programs and since we don't add any additional fee to the Scouts Canada registration cost, we rely on your support for two major fund raisers - Scout Popcorn and Apple Day.  The proceeds from these activities are crucial to our ability to run excellent programs. Each Section may also have small fundraising projects to assist with their programs.  This year Apple Day is from Sept 30 - Oct 2nd, and the Scout Popcorn Sale runs from September to the third week of October.   We hope that we can count on you and your child to support these activities.

Our policy is that no youth should be denied the benefits of the Scouting program because of cost. If there are financial concerns, please contact myself or your section leader.  We will make the required arrangements in the strictest confidence.

For new members, please discuss uniform requirements with the Leaders.  The Windsor Scout Shop will be in Sarnia on Wednesday, Sept 20th, from 12:00 to 7:00 pm at St Paul's United Church (360 Devine St).  Items can be pre-ordered.

We review our programs continually to ensure that they are of interest and value to our youth.   We feel strongly that they are more relevant than ever, with our emphasis on working together, team building and outdoor experience.
